CHICAGO, August 30, 2022 — The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) announced that its professional development initiative, the Global Communication Certification Council (GCCC), has launched remote proctoring for its Strategic Communication Management Professional® (SCMP) and its Communication Management Professional® (CMP) certification programs.
Remote proctoring allows certification candidates to take their exam remotely, without an in-person supervisor. Candidates are monitored by a proctor provided by GCCC’s testing vendor, Prolydian/Examity, via a webcam from the candidate’s home or office. Ten candidates are already scheduled to take the exam in the next 30 days, with the first taking place September 4.
“Businesses benefit from knowing that their communication professionals have the knowledge and expertise to provide strategic communication and inspire action,” said Mark Evans, chair of the GCCC. “The GCCC offers the profession’s only international communication certification program, now more accessible than ever before.”
The GCCC’s CMP and SCMP designations signify that a holder has met the criteria of education, professional training, experience and knowledge of the field as determined through a standardized examination. The CMP® is designed for communication professionals established in their careers and looking to demonstrate their competence, while the SCMP® is for highly-skilled professionals practiced in providing strategic communication counsel to an organization's leadership. Both designations are accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). Since 2015, more than 300 people have received a GCCC designation.
IABC provides additional career development opportunities through its Career Assessment tool, the Career Roadmap, and training courses. The GCCC’s certification programs are available to both IABC members and non-members. More information can be found at https://gcccouncil.org.

About the GCCC
The GCCC was created by IABC to offer certification at various levels and to promote a common, global understanding of what constitutes professionalism and competence in communication. The GCCC is independent of IABC, and its members represent the communication industry worldwide and come from a broad spectrum of organizations. The independent status reflects the GCCC’s understanding of the importance of impartiality in carrying out its certification activities, managing conflict of interest, and ensuring the objectivity of its certification activities. Membership in IABC is not a condition of Council membership or certification.
